Free contract number generator

Mock contract numbers for testing & demos

Generate realistic contract numbers instantly — smart YY-TYPE-SEQ schemes, prefixed sequentials, and random alphanumeric codes. Set the count, format, contract type and prefix, then copy or download the set. Everything runs 100% in your browser — no sign-up, no server, nothing stored.

Numbers are deduplicated within each generated batch.

Numbering format

The smart scheme embeds year and contract type, like real numbering systems.

NDA, MSA, SOW, MOU, SLA and more — used in the smart schemes.

Used by the PREFIX-SEQ and RANDOM formats, e.g. CON, CTR, AGR.

Sequential formats count up from here within the batch.

Honest limits — read before you use these

    • These are randomly generated mock contract numbers for testing, demos and documentation only. They refer to no real agreement, party or obligation.
    • A contract number does not make a contract. Real agreements are made by offer, acceptance, consideration and signatures — a plausible-looking number on a fake document creates nothing legally binding.
    • Never present mock numbers as real agreement identifiers in business, legal or procurement contexts. Real contract management systems assign their own numbers.
    • Safe uses: testing contract-management and document software, building demo data and screenshots, practicing data imports, drafting template layouts.

    How the generator works

No accounts, no network calls, no fine print. A small JavaScript file drafts every number on your device.

    DWG-01

    Smart numbering schemes

    The default format mirrors real contract numbering: two-digit year, a three-letter contract-type acronym, and a zero-padded sequence — e.g. 26-NDA-0042.

    DWG-02

    Secure randomness, zero servers

Random parts are drawn with crypto.getRandomValues() using rejection sampling to avoid modulo bias. Generation, copying and the .txt download all happen locally in your browser tab.

    DWG-03

    Your prefix, your sequence

Set a custom prefix, pick from twelve contract types, and choose where the sequence starts — then regenerate until the batch looks right for your test data.

    Specification 02

    When mock contract numbers shine

One honest job: realistic-looking identifiers that identify no real agreement.

    Use it

    Testing contract software

Building or evaluating a contract-management tool? Generate a batch and test search, filtering, sorting and exports with data shaped like real numbering schemes.

    Use it

    Demos and template design

Show a contract repository, lay out a document template, or screenshot a dashboard with believable numbers — without exposing any real agreement.

    Never

    Real agreements or filings

These numbers are invented. Attaching one to a document does not create a contract, and presenting mock numbers as real identifiers in business is misrepresentation.

    Quick answers

What is a contract number? +

A contract number is a unique identifier assigned to a contract or agreement so it can be filed, searched and referenced. Many organizations build it from the year, a contract-type acronym and a sequence — e.g. 26-NDA-0042. Full guide: what is a contract number.

Can I use these numbers on real contracts? +

No. ContractCode numbers are randomly generated mock values for testing and demos. Real agreements get their numbers from the organization's own contract management system, and a number alone never makes a document legally binding.

Is the generator really private? +

Yes. Plain JavaScript in your browser using crypto.getRandomValues(). Nothing is sent over the network, no cookies are set and nothing is stored. See our privacy page.

What numbering formats are supported? +

Smart schemes (YY-TYPE-SEQ and YYYY-TYPE-SEQ), prefix plus sequential, prefix plus random alphanumeric, and year plus random numeric — with twelve contract types, a custom prefix and an adjustable sequence start. See contract number formats.

What do NDA, MSA and SOW mean? +

Common contract-type acronyms: NDA = non-disclosure agreement, MSA = master services agreement, SOW = statement of work, MOU = memorandum of understanding, SLA = service level agreement, PO = purchase order.
